2021 Force Gurkha launch date revealed
The next-generation 2021 Force Gurkha has been revealed in all its glory. It is also confirmed to launch in India on September 27, with its deliveries commencing from October 15.
The Gurkha has a contemporary front grille with ‘Gurkha’ branding, circular LED headlights, fog lamps, 16-inch wheels, a spare wheel placed on the rear, and vertically stacked taillamps. Goes without saying that it looks like a crude G-Wagen copy from certain angles.
It also features thick plastic cladding, an air intake snorkel, and a roof rack. The body-on-frame SUV will be sold in five different exterior colours: Orange, Red, White, Green, and Grey. The new Gurkha has a length of 4,116mm, a breadth of 1,812mm, and a width of 2,075mm, with a wheelbase of 2,400mm.
2021 Force Gurkha features
On the inside, the 2021 Force Gurkha gets a new dark grey dashboard which looks pretty poorly built with shiny plastics. But, you have to remember that premium feel was never this SUV’s forte.
Interestingly, reclining captain chairs with armrests are offered for the second row. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connection, a tyre pressure monitoring system, power windows, central locking, rear parking sensors, USB charging outlets, and speed detecting door locks are also included.
2021 Force Gurkha engine and gearbox
It is powered by a BS6-compliant 2.6-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that generates 90 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. A five-speed manual gearbox does power transmission duties, while a 4×4 system is also available.
The only rival of this SUV is the Mahindra Thar which has gone seriously upmarket with its new generation model. This ensures that the 2021 Gurkha will only appeal to serious off-road enthusiasts as it may be too crude for daily use.
