2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio leaked in patent images
The next-gen 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been allegedly leaked via patent images. The car is rumoured to launch in September 2021.
The current Celerio has been a silent strong-seller for Maruti, even though the hatchback never created much buzz because of its boring aesthetics, it has been received well by budget-conscious buyers who want a no-nonsense hatchback.
The 2021 Celerio is expected to make a switch to Suzuki’s Heartect platform, the very same one that underpins the Swift, Dzire, Baleno, WagonR and Ignis. Therefore, expect the hatchback to lose some weight as it enters its next generation.
Powering the 2021 Celerio will be Maruti’s ubiquitous K-series petrol engine duo. One will be a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder unit with 68hp, while the other will be a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder unit with 83hp.
Expected to be at roughly around Rs 4.5 lakh, the 2021 Celerio will compete with the Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro, Datsun Go and its own tall-boy sibling, the WagonR.
