2021 Mercedes S-Class launched in India
Mercedes has launched the latest-gen 2021 S-Class in India at Rs 2.19 crore for the S450 petrol version and Rs 2.17 crore for the S400d diesel version, both ex-showroom.
It must be noted that these launch editions of the limousine are fully imported into India, hence the exorbitant price. The S-Class is expected to be locally assembled at a later stage thereby making the prices more competitive.
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class gets a brand new techy interior layout with a new vertically-mounted 12.8-inch OLED infotainment system with 16GB RAM and 320GB storage taking the centre stage. As expected, there’s also a 12.3-inch digital instrument display.
The rear is where this long-wheelbase sedan really shines. It has a bench-style seat with adjustable leg rests, massage function, rear-seat entertainment screens with a central tablet controller for various car functions, and, interestingly, airbags for rear passengers.
Both the S450 and S400d have 6-cylinder engines. The former generates 367hp/500Nm, while the latter pumps out 330hp/700Nm. Both versions also get a 4Matic all-wheel-drive system and a 9-speed transmission as standard.
The 2021 S-class features a rear-wheel steering system that aims to make this long car easier to manoeuvre in the city.
