2021 Tata Tigor EV launched in India
The 2021 Tata Tigor EV has been launched in India between Rs 11.99-13.14 lakh (ex-showroom). It is not to be confused with the Tata Xpres-T, which was recently launched as a fleet-only offering.
At this price, the Tigor EV is currently the most affordable EV on offer for private car buyers.
Based on the standard Tigor facelift, the EV version comes with Tata’s ‘Ziptron’ architecture which uses a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor which generates 170Nm of torque and an equivalent of 75 horsepower. The 2021 Tata Tigor EV has a 26kWh Lithium-ion unit that’s IP67-rated.
The claimed ARAI-certified range of this car is 306km, which beats the pre-facelift model’s 142km and 213km range for the standard and extended range versions, respectively. This electric compact sedan can be recharged from 0-80 percent in just 60 minutes.
On the inside, the interior of the car is quite similar to that of the IC-engine based Tigor compact sedan, however, it does get a few light blue coloured accents here and there. Also, instead of the gear lever, there’s a cool rotary dial drive mode selector here.
The 2021 Tata Tigor EV has also scored a solid 4-star Global NCAP crash safety rating, which isn’t all that surprising, since the Tiago, on which it is based, also got the same rating.
