All-electric Mini Cooper SE launched in India
Mini has introduced the all-electric Mini Cooper SE in India in a single configuration, with a starting price of Rs 47.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
A 32.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack installed in a T-shaped layout on the floor powers the electric Mini. The Mini Cooper SE weighs around 145 kg more than a comparable petrol-powered Mini and has the same amount of baggage capacity; the main difference is that the ground clearance is increased by 18mm to accommodate the battery pack.
The hatch may be charged through direct current fast-charging up to 50 kW, which can charge the battery to 80 percent in 35 minutes. Mini claims a range of 270 kilometres on a single charge. The new powertrain has no effect on the cabin or cargo area.
The electric motor transmits a total of 187hp and 270Nm to the front wheels. This results in a 7.3 second sprint from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour and a top speed of 150 kilometres per hour for the Cooper SE. There are four model-specific drive modes available: Sport, Mid, Green, or Green+.
Additionally, the Cooper SE electric has several cosmetic upgrades that set it apart from the conventional model. Yellow accents the closed-off new grille and mirror caps, as well as a new logo and further yellow accents on the 17-inch model-specific efficiency-focused wheels. LED headlights are standard, as is two-zone automatic climate control with heat pump technology, auxiliary heating, an electronic parking brake, and GPS.

Although the SE’s primary dashboard design is identical to that of the standard Cooper hatchback, the new 5.5-inch digital instrument cluster is a distinguishing feature. It is the first of its type for a Mini. The only other change is a new toggle button on the centre console for the multi-level brake regeneration system, as well as bright yellow highlights throughout the interior.
The Mini Cooper Cooper SE is equipped with an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, sports seats, a Harman Kardon audio system, a panoramic glass roof, a Nappa leather steering wheel, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
In India, the SE is available in four colours as a CBU: White Silver, Midnight Black, Moonwalk Grey, and British Racing Green. All 30 vehicles were sold during the pre-bookings period. The next wave of deliveries and reservations is planned to commence in March 2022.
