Apple announces 4 new services
Apple has announced a host of new additions to its services business with the introduction of a video subscription service, a news & magazine service, a gaming service, as well as a digital credit card.
Apple TV+
- Apple TV+ is a direct rival to popular video streaming services like Netflix and Prime Video. Its pricing plans are yet to be announced.
- It will broadcast many original shows, including TV series, movies and documentaries. Many well-known names like Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Aniston, etc. have already agreed to create shows for Apple TV+.
- While the service will work on iOS, Mac and Apple TV, it will also be made available for smart TVs from rivalling brands like Samsung, Sony, LG, Vizio, etc. Then, it’s also confirmed to come on the Amazon Fire TV stick and Roku.
Apple News+
- Coming at US $9.99/ month and limited only to the USA and Canada initially, the News+ aims to provide e-magazine and e-newspaper subscriptions at a fixed price.
- Apple News+ is claimed to have around 300 magazines in its catalogue, while newspaper services onboard include well-known media houses like the Wall Street Journal and LA Times.
Apple Arcade
- This is a paid gaming subscription service where users will get access to paid games on iOS, Mac and Apple TV, and play them offline.
- Users of Arcade will not have to pay for any in-app purchase of the game. Then, there will be no ads either.
Apple Card
- The Apple Card is a digital credit card that works with Mastercard. This service will only be limited to the US initially.
- Users can add Apple Card on their Wallet account on iPhone or iPad. Users will allegedly get cashback every time they use this card. Then, there is no limit on to how much purchases can be made daily.
- The Apple Card is no annual fee and is free to use.
