Audi e-Tron, e-Tron Sportback launched in India
The Audi e-Tron and e-Tron Sportback have been launched in India as the German brand’s debut all-electric models. The former is priced from Rs 99.99 lakh while the latter comes in only one variant that’s priced at Rs 1.18 crore (both ex-showroom).
Both EVs are more or less the same. However, as the name implies, the e-Tron Sportback has a tapered back for that unique coupe-SUV look. The standard e-Tron looks like a traditional SUV, much like the Q8.
The base e-Tron 50 Quattro, available only on standard body style, gets dual electric motors and it generates an equivalent of 313 horsepower and 540Nm of instantaneous torque. This version features a 71kW battery pack which can give it a range of 264-379 km as per the European WLTP cycle.
The more powerful 55 Quattro variant that’s available on both body styles generates a meatier 408 horsepower and 664Nm. It comes with a larger 95kWh battery pack, and consequently, its WLTP range is between 359-484 km.
Audi claims that the 55 Quattro model of the e-Tron duo takes 8.5 hours to charge from 0-80 percent using an 11kW AC charger. However, this time drops to just 30 minutes using the available 150kW DC fast charger.
The 2021 Audi e-Tron Duo is priced at par with Jaguar I-Pace and the Merc EQC, both of which are its direct rivals in the Indian luxury EV market.
