Changan Automobile Co eyes Indian market
- After SAIC’s success with its MG brand, more Chinese carmakers are planning to enter India. Recently, Great Wall Motors established its Indian subsidiary, and now, Changan Automobile Co. is also reportedly planning to come to our shores.
- A report claims that Changan wants to invest around Rs 4,000 crore in the country. The Chinese government-owned carmaker is said to have formed a liaison firm called Changan International Corporation.
- Changan has taken up an office space in Gurugram which will be operational very soon. Also, the company has appointed Sanjay G (an industry veteran who has worked with Honda, Toyota, Mahindra, Hyundai and Nissan) as its India expert.
- The company is said to be eyeing end-2022 to start its India operations. It has already done its feasibility study and we can expect two Changan-branded SUVs to launch by the aforementioned time period.
