Facetime to be available on Android, Windows
Since the ongoing pandemic has drastically shifted the way offices work, Apple wants to foray into the booming video calling app space. So, to counter the super-popular Zoom app, Apple’s in-house Facetime is now going cross-platform.
Before you get your hopes too high though, there is a catch. Facetime users can now generate a meeting link and share it with others in advance. Therefore, Android and Windows users can join Facetime meetings via their browsers.
So, basically, there is still no dedicated Android app or desktop website for Facetime, and only Apple ecosystem users can use the app to start a meeting.
That aside, a more useful feature for Apple users on Facetime is ‘SharePlay’. Thanks to this, a group of people can watch/listen to the same thing at the same time. So, users will be able to watch Disney Plus, or listen to Apple Music, or even share their screens with others on a Facetime call.
