Google, Amazon end dispute; Youtube coming on FireTV, Prime Video on Android TV
- Google and Amazon have officially ended their cold war which means that their respective services will now be available on each other’s platforms.
- So, the Youtube app will finally arrive on the Fire TV devices in a few months to come. Then, YouTube TV and YouTube Kids apps will also follow sometime later this year.
- Similarly, Android TV will soon get an official version of the Prime Video app. Not just that, Amazon will also add Chromecast support on the app so that users can cast the content on their TVs.
- If all goes well, expect the Youtube app to be available on Amazon’s smart displays – Echo Show and Echo Spot – as well.
- Around 2 years ago, Amazon decided to stop selling Chromecast and Google Home device on its website. This was done because Amazon has competing devices of its own (Fire Stick, Echo). However, Google was unhappy with this decision and that led to a dispute between the two companies.
