Honda City BS6 petrol launched
- The petrol version of the Honda City has been updated as per the upcoming BSVI emission norms. It is priced at Rs 9.91-14.31 lakh (ex-showroom), which is up to Rs 15,000 more than the previous version.
- The diesel version has not been launched in BSVI avatar yet. However, unlike Maruti Suzuki and Volkswagen which will axe their 1.5-litre diesel engines, Honda will upgrade its 1.5 i-DTEC to BSVI.
- Therefore, the diesel will also be updated pretty soon, however, since the fifth-generation 2020 Honda City is not too far away from launch, it is possible that the updated diesel will only be offered once the new model comes to India.
- The current Honda City, which was once the segment best-seller, is now facing stiff competition from the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. So, Honda’s pricing strategy with the fifth-gen model will be key to get the City back on top again.
