Honda, Google partner for in-car services
Honda has announced that they would incorporate Google’s in-vehicle linked service into an all-new model that will hit the market in North America in the second half of 2022. Since 2015, Honda and Google have already been working with the automotive sector to bring Android to cars.
Under the new partnership, Honda and Google will provide the following new integrated features:
Goolge Assistant: The driver can effortlessly accomplish daily chores using voice control while maintaining his eyes on the road and hands on the steering wheel thanks to Google Assistant, which will come pre-installed. With compatible smartphone devices, drivers may send messages, obtain directions, and manage media and car features hands-free.
Navigation: By integrating Google Maps into the car, customers may utilise the familiar and personalised maps that they currently have on their smartphone on the vehicle. Furthermore, the driver may communicate with Google to perform a variety of tasks while driving, such as navigating home, obtaining an anticipated arrival time, locating nearby gas stations or EV charging stations, and verifying shop business hours.
In-vehicle apps: Google Play will allow users to enjoy and download their favourite apps while driving, as well as listen to music, podcasts, and audiobooks.
Honda intends to start integrating Google with an all-new model that will be on sale in North America in the second part of 2022, before gradually spreading it internationally. Therefore, do not expect this partnership to come to fruit on Honda India cars anytime before 2023.
