India-bound Jeep Meridian leaks online
The upcoming Jeep Meridian SUV, which will globally be called Jeep Commander, has been leaked before its August 26 debut.
Jeep Meridian will be a longer and more premium 6/7-seat version of the popular Compass SUV, and it shows in these leaks. Commander has leaked ahead of its official unveiling scheduled for August 26, 2021.
The overall silhouette of this car remains similar to that of the Compass, however, there are plenty of design changes up front to give its own unique identity. The Compass connection becomes less evident at the rear where the sleek tail lamps give it a fresh new look.
The ‘Overland’ trim of the Jeep Meridian is seen here, which is likely the top-end trim since it gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster as well as a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment head unit.
Powering this SUV will be Stellantis’ 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that’s seen on the Compass, however, on the Meridian, there will be an additional 48V mild-hybrid system as well. A 9-speed auto gearbox will do power transmission duties.
Expected to be priced between Rs 25-32 lakh, the Meridian will lock horns with other monocoque SUVs in India like the VW Tiguan Allspace, Skoda Kodiaq and Citroen A5 Aircross.
