iPadOS revealed for iPad; has new homescreen, mouse support
- The Apple iPad range will officially move to its very own dedicated operating system christened iPadOS.
- iPadOS now has a brand new home screen which also incorporates widgets alongside the usual app icons. In case you’re wondering, these are the same widgets that you find in iOS’ Notification Center.
- Then, the OS has better multitasking gestures to help slide between multiple apps, drag & drop apps side by side, etc.
- A much-improved file manager is also a part of the iPadOS. Therefore, external USB drives and SD cards can now be accessed from within the Files app (finally!).
- Safari has been improved to provide a more desktop-like experience on the iPads. The browser now gets a dedicated download manager.
- Also, there are many new keyboard shortcuts, text size controls, site-wise settings, etc to make things more productive. The iPadOS also improves on copy & paste feature via new gestures.
- Finally, the iPadOS natively supports external USB devices as well. So, third-party mice and Apple’s own Magic Trackpad can now be used with iPads.
