Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 launched in India
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 SUV has been launched in India at Rs 2.43 crore (ex-showroom, pan-India).
Brought into the country via the CBU route, and targeting other uber-luxurious SUVs like the Land Rover Range Rover and Bentley Bentayga, the GLS 600 features a bespoke Maybach design with exclusive features such as a vertical louvre chrome grille, a dual-tone paint scheme and large 22-inch wheels.
On the inside, the Maybach GLS 600 gets the same basic cabin as the Merc GLS, however, the luxury quotient here has been significantly raised with liberal use of Nappa leather and a few exclusive trim inserts.
The third row of seats found on the standard GLS has been eliminated and the second row has been pushed back for additional legroom. The rear seats can be electrically reclined and come with calf rests. Additionally, buyers can opt for the 4-seat layout which comes with even plusher rear seats.
Powering this behemoth of an SUV is a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that generates 557 horsepower and 730Nm of max torque. It’s also hooked up with a 48V mild-hybrid system which pumps out an additional 22hp and 250Nm on demand.
