MG Astor features
The robot-like gadget that rests on the dashboard and functions as your in-car personal assistant is the true centrepiece of the car’s interior. It listens to your orders, reacts with animated emoticons, and answers questions from the internet. Some may find it appealing, while others may find it gimmicky. The system is driven by Wikipedia and includes a number of local apps.
The touchscreen entertainment system is 10.1-inches in size and has a Jio e-SIM for connected vehicle functionality. The inside is particularly interesting because MG has gone to great lengths to make it a premium and sophisticated environment. Soft-touch materials abound, with brushed metal elements that complement the interior colour scheme.

It is offered in three inside colour schemes: dual-tone Sangria Red, dual-tone Iconic Ivory, and Tuxedo Black. This is also a segment-first.
Steering weight adjustment with driving modes (normal, urban, dynamic), leatherette upholstery, digital driver’s display, and a panoramic sunroof are among the other notable features on top-spec models.
MG Astor safety features
Level 2 ADAS capabilities include Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and other functions that utilise a camera and radar.
Automatic parking brake, tyre pressure monitor, 360-degree camera, heated wing mirrors, 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, braking aid, ESP, traction control, hill start and descent control, and rear disc brakes are also available on board.
MG Astor engine & gearbox
Just like the Volkswagen Group twins, the Astor is only offered with two petrol engines. So, diesel fans should look elsewhere.
The first is a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 110hp and 144Nm and is coupled to a five-speed manual or an eight-step CVT automatic transmission.
The more powerful engine choice is a 1.3-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 140hp and 200Nm, but it comes only with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
