MG Astor to have in-car Jio eSIM; India launch soon
Morris Garages (MG) is quite a pro at marketing features on its cars. The SAIC-owned brand, very well recognized for its proudly placed ‘Internet Inside’ badge, will soon one-up the connectivity game on its upcoming small SUV.
The vehicle in question is the MG Astor. The MG Astor is nothing but the regular petrol-powered twin of the MG ZS EV which is sold in India. In fact, the former is globally called the MG ZS, but in India, it will wear the Astor badge for some reason.
Anyway, what’s cool is that this Hyundai Creta-rivalling SUV will come equipped with a Jio e-SIM to run its suite of connected-car features. And if you’ve been inside a Hector, you do know that MG does offer a lot of in-car connected features on its vehicles.
Expected to launch in India in September 2021, the Astor will be the cheapest MG on sale in India. We can expect its prices to lie between Rs 9-14 lakh, which will put it against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Skoda Kushaq.
You can expect the MG Astor to be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that makes 120hp and 150Nm. There may also be a 1.3-litre turbo petrol on offer with 163hp and 230Nm.
