New iPad Mini official with slimmer bezels, larger display
Apple has unveiled the new 2021 iPad Mini. It has a new shell with softened edges and smaller bezels. The major news is that it’s bigger than the iPad Mini 5, with an 8.3-inch display (up from 7.9-inch on the previous model), making it more useful as a multitasking or schooling tablet.
The screen, according to Apple, can achieve 500 nits of brightness. Apple was believed to be considering putting a Mini LED display on the next iPad, comparable to the iPad Pro. The new Mini still has a standard Liquid Retina display, so those rumours were untrue.
Also included on the iPad Mini 2021 are a USB-C port, Touch ID (no Face ID), a stereo speaker system in landscape mode, and upgraded 12MP cameras on the front and back. You now have an ultra-wide front camera that supports Apple’s Center Stage.
In addition, it includes Wi-Fi 6 and 5G (with download rates of up to 3.5 gigabits per second) and a magnetically attached second-generation Apple Pencil (sold separately).

Aside from the enclosure, the main logic board solder is made from 100 percent recycled tin, and the enclosure magnets are made from rare earth elements.
A 40 percent increase in CPU performance is promised, along with an 80 percent bump for GPU performance, according to Apple’s announcement on Wednesday. Funnily enough, Apple did not mention the chip that powers the new iPad Mini.
The new iPad Mini is now available for pre-order and will be ready for purchase next week for USD 499.
