Oppo ColorOS 12 features officially detailed
ColorOS 12, Oppo’s newest platform based on Android 12, has been presented in its entirety. The company also released a timeline for upgrading current devices to version 12, with the first batch due in early October.
There have been several internal improvements. According to Oppo, the new technology cuts RAM consumption by up to 30 percent, decreases background power usage by up to 20 percent, and extends average battery life by up to 12 percent.
It also optimises the usage of internal storage, resulting in read and write performance degradation of less than 5 percent over the course of 36 months.
Oppo has opted for acrylic icons and more natural forms instead of following Google’s Material You makeover. As per Oppo, the new Quantum Animation Engine 3.0 is utilised on ColorOS 12 to give objects a sense of motion for realistic animations.

This new Android skin has two main goals: to make multitasking simpler and to improve the system’s readability. Quick Glance cards, for example, are widget-like cards that display status information from linked smart devices and provide quick actions through buttons.
Oppo has created a solution that allows you to link your phone and PC. On the computer, you can see the phone’s screen, interact with it, and receive alerts. You may also simply move data between the two devices by dragging and dropping it (even the clipboard is shared so you can just copy and paste).
Oppo’s AI assistant became smarter as well. The Schedule Assistant feature keeps track of your daily chores and will remind you as well as propose useful actions like as opening the maps app to lead you to your next destination.
Omoji — customised 3D avatars that can replicate your every expression – also uses the new animation engine on ColorOS 12.
The latest ColorOS also has capabilities that aren’t limited to the phone. It can now be used to establish a shared family area where you can safely exchange photographs without using social media. You can also use screen sharing to advise those who aren’t as tech-savvy through any issues they might have with their phone.
