Realme GT 2, GT 2 Pro unveiled
Realme has finally launched its long-awaited GT 2 series. There are two models: the standard GT 2 and the GT 2 Pro, which includes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU. There are several notable advancements here as well.
The special edition models have a specially created bio-based polymer back material that simulates the feel of paper – a first for any smartphone. The novel material was created by Naoto Fukusawa and Realme’s design studio, and Realme claims it has the same structural integrity as other fossil-based materials while conserving up to 2kg CO2 per kilogramme body weight.
The Realme GT 2 Pro features a 6.7-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution, a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate, and a touch sampling rate of 1,000Hz. The panel is said to have better battery life than previous AMOLEDs, with up to 50 percent reduced power usage and instantaneous refresh rate variations between 30Hz and 120Hz. 10bit colours, HDR10+ certification, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection are included.
The standard GT 2 has a smaller 6.62-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and FHD+ resolution. Moving on to the chipsets, the GT 2 uses the last-generation Snapdragon 888, and the GT 2 Pro has the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship SoC. On the Pro variant, you can have up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
The 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor with OIS and 1.0m pixels is shared by both GT 2 phones. The Pro also includes a secondary Samsung JN1 50MP ultrawide shooter with a 150-degree field of view, and a microscope lens capable of up to 40x close-ups, comparable to Oppo’s Find X3 Pro. The Realme GT 2 also has an ultrawide snapper, but its third shooter is a less spectacular macro camera.
Both GT 2 phones include 5,000mAh batteries and 65W charging, as well as Android 12 with Realme UI 3.0 on top.
The Realme GT 2 starts at CNY 2,699 (Rs 31,500) for 8/128GB and goes up to CNY 3,199 (Rs 37,400) for 12/256GB. The Realme GT 2 Pro starts at CNY 3,899 (Rs 45,600) for the 8/128GB model and goes up to CNY 4,999 (Rs 58,400) for the 12/512GB variant. Both phones will be available for purchase in China beginning January 8.
