Rimac, Bugatti join forces to form Bugatti Rimac LLC
Bugatti, the iconic hypercar maker owned by the Volkswagen Group, has officially joined hands with Croatia-based electric supercar-maker Rimac. The new venture is called Bugatti Rimac LLC.
The new company, which will be headquartered in Zagreb, Croatia, is 45 percent owned by Porsche (a part of the Volkswagen Group) and 55 percent owned by Rimac. Rimac founder Mate Rimac will be the CEO of Bugatti Rimac LLC, while both, Porsche chairman Oliver Blume, and deputy chairman Lutz Meschke will be supervisory board members.
As the automotive industry rapidly propels towards electrification, this new venture will combine Rimac’s specialisation in high-output electric drivetrain with Bugatti’s well-known hypercar expertise.
Both Bugatti and Rimac will continue to operate as separate brands. However, Rimac’s powertrain, battery and component-development wing will now be spun off under Rimac Technology, which will remain a part of the Rimac Group as a whole.
