Samsung A52s breaks cover with Snapdragon 778G SoC
The Samsung A52s has gone official as an upgrade to the A52 from earlier this year. It is priced at GBP 410 in the UK but we expect the A52s price in India to be lower.
The most obvious upgrade on the Galaxy A52s is its new Snapdragon 778G chipset, the same one that also powers the recently-launched Motorola Edge 20. Three storage variants are on offer – 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB and 8/256GB.
It still has a 4,500mAh battery, however, a fast 25W charger now comes inside the retail package. The A52 only had a 15W brick inside its box, while the super-premium Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 don’t even get an in-box charging brick!
The Samsung A52s packs a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel with a faster 120Hz refresh rate. As before, there’s a display hole punch for a 32MP front camera and an in-display optical fingerprint reader.
Rear cameras on the Galaxy A52s are also carried over from the A52. So, there’s a 64MP main sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultra wide unit, a 5MP macro unit, as well as an utterly useless depth sensor.
This phone, just like its predecessor, is also rated IP67 for dust & water resistance, a good-to-have feature on a mid-range smartphone.
