Samsung Galaxy Fold launched at Rs 1.65 lakh
- The Samsung Galaxy Fold has been launched in India as the first folding-screen smartphone to launch in the country. It is priced at Rs 1.65 lakh and its shipments will start from October 20.
- The Fold, which was previously delayed due to design flaws, now comes with strengthened top and bottom hinge areas with new protection caps. Also, the top protective layer of the ‘Infinity Flex’ display has been extended beyond the bezel so that it’s not mistaken for a screen protector.
- The folding screen of this device is a 7.3-inch Flex Dynamic AMOLED panel of QXGA+ resolution. There’s also a secondary display on the outside which is a 4.6-inch HD+ AMOLED unit. Samsung’s App Continuity allows apps to seamlessly switch between the two displays when required.
- Powering the Galaxy Fold is a 7 nm octa-core chipset with 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM. The phone runs on Android 9 Pie with a modified version of Samsung’s One UI top. The battery capacity here is 4,380mAh.
- There are 3 cameras at the rear which are the same as those on the Samsung S10+ – 12MP primary, 12MP telephoto with 2x zoom and 16MP ultra-wide-angle. Then, the front (unfolded) has 2 cameras – 10MP main and 8MP depth sensors. Finally, when the phone is folded, there’s another 10MP front camera for selfies.
