Samsung Galaxy S21 FE finally goes official
After numerous delays, countless leaks, and rumours of it being cancelled altogether, the S21 FE has finally gone official as an incremental upgrade over the S20 FE from late 2020.
The Galaxy S21 FE 5G boasts a 6.4-inch 2340×1080 px AMOLED display with a touch sampling rate of 240Hz that runs at 120Hz. A Snapdragon 888 processor handles the processing duties here, with the Exynos 2100 version’s availability not being announced for the time being.
The Galaxy S21 FE has four cameras: a 32MP fixed-focus f/2.2 front camera and a 0.5x-1x-3x combo on the back which includes a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide, a 12MP 1/1.76-inch f/1.8 primary camera with OIS, and an 8MP f/2.4 stabilised 3x telephoto module.
The camera features include a variety of shooting modes, including Night Mode, which combines up to 14 photos into a single multi-frame image, and multi-camera recording, which combines the front and rear wide cameras in a single video.
Deep learning is used in AI face repair to improve the texture of the brows and lips. And, like Magic Eraser on the Pixel 6 series, Object Eraser allows you to remove stray items from your photographs.
The S21 FE is thinner (7.9mm vs. 8.4mm) and lighter (177g vs. 190g) than its predecessor, its camera bump is styled similar to that of the S21, but it’s not blended into the back cover like on the latter. Everything is matte-finished, which should reduce fingerprints.
The phone is powered by a 4,500mAh battery that Samsung claims may last up to two days. It looks like there is no included in-box charger this time around.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Galaxy S21 FE 5G will be available for purchase on January 11 for EUR 749/GBP 699 for the sole 8GB/128GB option. We do expect its India price to be much more competitive.
White, Graphite, Lavender, and this new Olive are the four colours available.
