Skoda Kushaq Style AT to get more safety features
The Skoda Kushaq Style AT variant could soon get six airbags, if a media report is to be believed. This model will have a tyre pressure monitoring system *TPMS) in addition to the side curtain airbags.
The Kushaq comes in three different trims: Active, Ambition, and Style. Only the Style MT version has 6 airbags and TPMS at the moment.
Two turbo-petrol engine choices are offered for the Kushaq. There’s a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder TSI with 113bhp and 178Nm, as well as a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder TSI with 148bhp and 250Nm. While the base engine comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, it is also offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The more powerful engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It also features cylinder deactivation tech to improve fuel economy.

The 1.5-litre TSI engine is currently only offered in the top-of-the-line Style model. According to a document from the Department of Transportation, a mid-spec Ambition 1.5 TSI might possibly be in the works.
The Kushaq is Volkswagen Group India’s first launch based on its made-for-India MQB A0 IN platform. However, the journey hasn’t been really smooth for this SUV as many owners of the 1.o-litre automatic version of this SUV have reported the car stalling suddenly due to an EPC (Electric Power Control) issue.
The second vehicle under this project, VW Taigun, is launching in India on September 23. Since the Kushaq and Taigun are essentially the same cars, let’s hope these EPC issues are fully resolved once the latter launches.
