Tata Safari Dark Edition launched
The Tata Safari line-up has been expanded with the inclusion of a new Dark Edition variation, making it the fifth Tata vehicle to offer this option. Safari Dark Edition prices begin at Rs 19.05 lakh and go up to Rs 22.51 lakh (ex-showroom).
Safari Dark Edition comes dressed in an Oberon Black paint colour which is the same shade as on the Harrier Dark Edition. Tata has also added gloss black highlights to the grille, headlamp surrounds, and window surrounds, in addition to black 18-inch alloy wheels.
The Dark Edition emblems are the only pieces of chrome visible on this new trim. These alterations are consistent with those made to Tata’s previous Dark Editions models — the Altroz, Nexon, Nexon EV, and Harrier.
On the inside, the Safari now features an all-black interior with a ‘Blackstone Matrix’ inlay in the dashboard. This is a first for the new-gen Safari as previously, the SUV was only available with a white or beige interior decor, even on special editions such as the Adventure and Gold.
In terms of equipment, the Dark Edition is well-equipped, given that it is based on the normal SUV’s higher-end XT+ and XZ+ trim levels. As a result, the top-spec trim includes an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, ventilated first and second row seats (also available on the Safari Gold Edition), a wireless charger, a JBL audio system, Tata iRA connected car technology, a 7.0-inch part-digital instrument cluster, an air purifier, a panoramic sunroof, and leatherette seat upholstery.
The new Safari variant is powered by the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine producing 170hp and 350Nm. As with the standard Safari, the Dark Edition trim level is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The new Tata Safari Dark Edition remains competitive in our market against other three-row midsize SUVs such as the new Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar.
