Toyota Hilux spied in India; to launch soon
The Toyota Hilux has been spotted yet again in India, however this time the pickup truck was spotted in Gurugram, Haryana, while being used to film a TV advertisement.
The Hilux, which is based on the Japanese automaker’s IMV-2 platform, which also supports the Innova Crysta MPV and Fortuner luxury SUV, should fit very easily in the developing lifestyle pick-up sector. It was reported that the pick-up was scheduled for January 2022 launch, and this scoop further reaffirms this.
With a length of almost 5.3 metres and a wheelbase of approximately 3.1 metres, it is by no means a small vehicle, and it appears that India will only get the double cab version at first.
In terms of style, the newly spotted Toyota Hilux is identical to the type offered in Thailand, with a dramatic grille with a thick chrome frame, projector lighting, a conspicuous front skid plate, multi-spoke alloy wheels with wide travel, side steps, and a large enough cargo bed.

The lifestyle pick-up also has a hefty dose of chrome practically everywhere and appears to come with some extras. Inside, it should include an 8-inch infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, an electrically adjustable driver seat, auto air conditioning, and other goodies.
Toyota is anticipated to offer both 2.4-litre (150 PS and 400 Nm) and 2.8-litre (204 PS and 500 Nm) turbodiesel engines with the vehicle. There will be a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox option, as well as a 4-wheel drive option, which would make it a tempting pick for off-road enthusiasts.
Toyota’s pickup truck, which will sit in a segment above the Isuzu V-Cross, is expected to cost as much as certain luxury SUVs now on the market. Toyota has ridiculously overpriced the Fortuner and Innova, so expect the Hilux to follow the same route.
