Volkswagen Polo, Vento facelifts launched in India
Volswagen’s aging Polo hatchback and Vento saloon have got yet another update which brings a new design on both cars. This, most likely, is the last update to these decade-old models before the designed-for-India next-gen models arrive in 2020.
2019 Polo
- The new Polo’s price range in India is Rs 5.82–9.88 lakh (ex-showroom).
- With this update, the car gets a new front fascia which incorporates a new honeycomb-mesh grille, aggressive front bumper, and updated tail lights.
- Interestingly, the new design is inspired by the Polo GTi hot hatch that was briefly sold in India. Since the GTi was priced at around Rs 25 lakh, this update is bound to annoy the former’s owners since their exclusivity factor now seems to be diluted!
- Other than that, the 2019 Polo now gets Volkswagen Connect on the Highline Plus and GT variants. It’s a smart connected system which allows trip tracking, driver behavior, statistic tracking, location sharing, and fuel cost monitoring to be tracked through a dedicated mobile app.
- Mechanically, the car remains totally unchanged. No major change has been made to the interior either.
2019 Vento
- The 2019 VW Vento’s price has been set at Rs 8.76-14.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
- The Vento now gets the same new front fascia as that of the new Polo, meaning that now there isn’t much to differentiate it from the cheaper Polo!
- Volkswagen has introduced a new ‘GT Line’ trim on the Vento, which gets the 1.2-litre TSI turbo petrol and 7-speed DSG combo from the Polo GT.
- Otherwise, it’s all the same old stuff, well except for the addition of the aforementioned Volkswagen Connect system. No changes on the mechanical front either.
