VW Taigun India launch date revealed
The VW Taigun is confirmed to launch in India on September 23. Volkswagen dealers across the country are already accepting pre-bookings for this upcoming B-SUV.
Based on the made for India MQB A0 IN platform, the Taigun is the sister car of the recently-launched Skoda Kushaq. In fact, both cars are essentially the same with different front & rear designs and a few equipment differences.
There will be no diesel engine on offer on this B-SUV. It will offer a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine with 113bhp/175Nm on all variants except for the top-end GT. The GT will get a 1.5-litre turbo petrol unit with 148bhp and 250Nm, as well as cylinder deactivation tech for better fuel economy.
The VW Taigun’s arrival comes at a time when Mahindra has already dropped a bomb with the new XUV700’s Rs 11.99 lakh starting price. Dimensionally larger than the Taigun, the XUV700 pretty much makes everything else look overpriced.
Other rivals of the VW Taigun include the Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks, and MG Hector.
