XUV700 vs Creta: Specifications comparison

The new XUV700 has to compete in India’s increasingly crowding mid-size SUV segment, a space that has long been owned by the Hyundai Creta.

XUV700 vs Creta: Dimensions

The Mahindra XUV700 has a wheelbase of 2750mm, a length of 4695mm, a width of 1890mm, and a height of 1755mm.

The Hyundai Creta, on the other hand, is the smaller car of the two. It is 4300mm long, 1790mm broad, 1635mm tall, and has a 2610mm wheelbase.

XUV700 vs Creta: Engine & gearbox options

Mahindra XUV700 comes with two engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that produces a segment-leading 200PS of power and 380Nm of torque, and a 2.2-litre diesel engine with two tuning options.

The lower-powered diesel engine, rated at 155PS/360Nm, is offered in the MX diesel trim, while the higher-powered unit, rated at 185PS/420Nm (450Nm with AT), is offered with the AX diesel trim. A 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission are available, with all-wheel drive as an option on the top-end diesel AT.

Creta has three engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 115PS and 144Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel engine with 115PS and 250Nm, and a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine with 140PS/242Nm. A 6-speed manual, CVT, 6-speed torque converter auto, and a 7-speed DCT are among the transmission options.

XUV700 vs Creta: Features

Feature highlights of the Mahindra include a Mercedes-inspired dual 10.25-inch screen system at the front.

Then, you also get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, pop-out door handles, auto booster headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, air purifier, leatherette upholstery, an electronic parking brake, and a custom 12-speaker Sony audio system with a subwoofer.

On the Creta, you get a 10.25-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, an 8-speaker Bose premium sound system, Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car tech, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a 7-inch TFT colour instrument cluster, a touch-enabled smart air purifier, drive mode select, paddle shifters (DCT only), and remote engine start.

Please note that the features mentioned above are for the top-end variants of both these SUVs.

XUV700 vs Creta: Safety

Forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, smart pilot assistance, traffic sign recognition, and driver fatigue detection are among the XUV700’s first-in-class safety features. Seven airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, a 360-degree camera, rear disc brakes, and other safety measures are also on offer.

Six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, stability control, vehicle stability management, hill-assist control, a driver rearview monitor, ABS with EBD, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, traction control, and rear disc brakes are all standard on the Hyundai Creta.

Neither of the two SUVs has been crash-tested by Global NCAP at the time of writing this article.

XUV700 vs Creta: Price

The XUV700’s five-seat variant will be offered in two trim lines: MX and AX, with pricing beginning at Rs 11.99 lakh and rising to Rs 14.99 lakh. The Hyundai Creta, on the other hand, is presently priced between Rs 10.16 lakh and Rs 17.87 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).
