Yamaha R15 V4, R15M launched in India
Yamaha R15 V4, R15M design
The new 2021 R15 V4 takes a step ahead in terms of style, as it now matches the look of Yamaha’s new YZF-R7 middleweight superbike. The front end is all-new, with sleek LED DRLs and a projector lamp that’s embedded inside the new central air-duct.
The exhaust is also altered, and while the taillights are identical, the back part now seems to be more angular. Racing Blue, Dark Knight, and Metallic Red are the three colours available for the new R15.
R15 V4, R15M differences
The 2021 Yamaha R15M comes in unique Metallic Grey or Monster Energy MotoGP livery. The M is also distinguished from its less expensive brother by a carbon-like rear seat cowl, a golden front brake calliper, and anodized blue fork caps.
Yamaha R15 V4, R15M features
The new R15 models have a redesigned LCD instrument cluster with Track and Street mode — these are display modes, not riding modes – in addition to the aesthetic improvements. Bluetooth compatibility is also included in the bundle.
Yamaha is releasing this sportsbike with upside-down front forks for the first time in India. These were included with the previous version in international markets but were not included when Yamaha released the R15 V3 in India.
In addition, the bike comes standard with a traction control system on all models. The R15 M and R15 V4.0 Racing Blue models come equipped with a quick-shifter.
Yamaha R15 V4, R15M engine & gearbox
Both the R15 V4 and the R15 M share the same engine and power/torque figures.
The engine remains the same 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) from the V3. This engine produces 18.1 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. An assist-and-slipper clutch is included here, which is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox.
